This Year, MBA Reunion Is More Social Than Usual

This Year, MBA Reunion Is More Social Than Usual

THE EVENT DEVOTED TO SDA BOCCONI MBA ALUMNI WILL BE HELD ON MAY 2224. SIXTEEN CLASSES WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE CREATION OF SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT. THEY WILL ALSO GIVE TO THE TWO MBA REUNION SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Web 2.0 has radically changed the habits of consumers and firms alike. It’s the realm of user-generated content, with video being the medium that has most transformed our way of communicating. This change in paradigm has also affected the forthcoming edition of the MBA Reunion, the annual event organized by Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA) and SDA Bocconi School of Management, to bring MBA graduates together at the University.

The 2015 MBA Reunion will be held from May 22 to May 24. All SDA Bocconi MBAs will be given tablets to put out videos that provide their perspectives on the four main discussion topics of the event’s workshops. There will also be plenary sessions with managers who succeeded in overhauling their businesses thanks to the digital revolution: this year’s speakers will be Federico Marchetti, YOOX’s founder and CEO as well as Bocconian of the Year 2014, and Prysimian’s CEO Valerio Battista.
This will be the fourth edition of the MBA Reunion, which brings together SDA Bocconi MBAs (people holding Full-time MBA, EMBA, EMBAS, and GEMBA diplomas) from all over the world every year. In 2015, sixteen graduation classes (the oldest being 1980) are invited to spend three days doing networking and continuous learning activities on campus. The latter activities are concentrated on Saturday, March 23, and co-creation workshops are part of them. Divided into groups and led by four SDA Bocconi professors (Enzo BaglieriFerdinando PennarolaEmanuela Prandelli Francesco Saviozzi), young and old MBA graduates will cut three-minute videos, by choosing from one of the four subjects the workshops will verge upon: products and services, people and networks, consumers and markets, business models.

“The overarching theme of this year’s reunion is the ongoing digital revolution”, Baglieri explains. “Since we live in a 2.0 world, we thought we should actively involve participants in the reunion’s production of multimedia content”. The four best video clips will be presented to the plenary session.

But the MBA Reunion is also an occasion for socializing and networking: Friday night, there will be a welcome party; Saturday night there will be a gala dinner at Palazzo Mezzanotte, where the Milan stock exchange is located; Sunday will be devoted to team building, with MBAs competing in either cooking competitions (as aspiring chefs) or in golf games (at the Golf Clinic).

Finally, the Reunion is also supportive of new generations: in 2013, SDA Bocconi established the MBA Reunion Scholarship Fund to support worthy graduate students in their professional education. At this year’s edition, it will be announced that the MBA Reunion Scholarship is now double: alumni can decide whether to give their money to the Executive MBA fund or the Full-Time MBA fund, in order to support students in the two programs, respectively.
