The Sovereignty of Line, an Exhibition by Rino Crivelli

The Sovereignty of Line, an Exhibition by Rino Crivelli

THE EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS BY RINO CRIVELLI, PAINTER AND SCULPTOR OF INTERNATIONAL FAME, WILL BE INAUGURATED ON MONDAY, JUNE 22 AT 18, AND WILL REMAIN OPEN IN THE SALA RISTORANTE BOCCONI UNTIL 4 SEPTEMBER.

From June 22 until September 4, the restaurant exhibition areaarea in via Sarfatti 25, with hours from Monday to Friday from 9 to 12, will host an exhibition of paintings of the master Rino Crivelli, painter and sculptor of international renown.

Known for its lines, crisp, perfect, never uncertain or hesistating, he magically creates a small theater of figures and stories. His lines are never a formal game, but a story, a fable, a lesson.

Says art historian Elena Pontiggia of the master: "With amused disenchantment Crivelli draws what he understood of life. His irony borders on lyricism with a smiling, floating lightness, the same that animates the tables and fairy tales of his " Speriamo almeno che Alice non dica okey ".

Self-isolated protagonist of abstract art in Milan late twentieth century, Rino Crivelli was a painter and sculptor. But perhaps in drawing he was best able to express what he called the sovereignty of the line, the tendency of  line to establish itself as an uninterrupted diary. "And it is a diary that is still largely  undiscovered," concludes Pontiggia.

Rino Crivelli (Milan 1924-2013) after his classical studies and a degree in engineering, dedicated himself to painting from 1945. In 1978 Scheiwiller published his book of  illustrations and stories " Speriamo almeno che Alice non dica okey “. Starting in the eighties he focused on sculpture. One result are the natural height shapes that he called “the wooden people”.  He exhibited in Italy and abroad (Milan, Rome, Brussels, New York).
