Mihmep Leadership in the Hands of Federico Lega

Mihmep Leadership in the Hands of Federico Lega

A NEW DIRECTOR FOR THE 2015 EDITION OF THE MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT, ECONOMICS AND POLICY AT SDA BOCCONI

Mihmep, the Master of International Health Care Management, Economics and Policy, has been offered by SDA Bocconi for several years, allowing attendees to better manage organizational and policy changes in healthcare systems at global and local levels.

The international program is for professionals who would like to employ their professional skills in various fields in the world of healthcare: these include pharmaceutical multinationals producing medical and biotech devices, international institutions, organizations, authorities, national and local healthcare agencies, hospitals, local healthcare businesses, non-governmental organizations working in developing countries, research centers and consultancy companies.

The 2015 edition has been updated, including in terms of leadership. The new MIHMEP director will be Federico Lega, former Leader of the SDA Bocconi Healthcare Segment, Director of the Organization and Strategy Head at CERGAS Bocconi (Center for Research on Health and Social Care Management) and Bocconi faculty member in the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management.

"Healthcare is facing one of main challenges of modern society", says Lega, "to constantly improve services offered to the population, while at the same time guaranteeing innovation and sustainability. These are the objectives that students attending the Master should set for themselves".

Held entirely in English, MIHMEP requires a full-time one year commitment (lectures start in September 2015 and end in June 2016), with a program divided into four phases, the last of which is an internship to complete in Italy or abroad at a healthcare company, organization or hospital. The Master’s international emphasis is guaranteed by comparing systems, companies and firms in different countries, in a classroom with a high degree of diversity (over 20 nationalities represented).

This is the critical factor of success for students interested in beginning or consolidating a professional career in the healthcare sector at any level, including management, consulting, in economics or policymaking.

“There are many challenges in an increasingly transnational healthcare system,” says Lega, “characterized by a focus on companies, businesses, patients and healthcare professionals that increasingly cross national borders, and where problems and solutions, innovations and changes are increasingly more global and less local.”
