Three weeks of Venture Capital with the Bocconi Summer School 2016

THE FUNCTIONING OF THE PRIVATE EQUITY SECTOR, THE IMPORTANCE OF VENTURE CAPITAL FUNDS IN EUROPE, THE BUSINESS PLAN AS SEEN WITH THE EYES OF AN INVESTOR. THESE ARE THE TOPICS OF ONE OF THE SIX COURSES DESIGNED FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, TO BE HELD FROM 4 TO 22 JULY. REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN UNTIL THE 20TH OF APRIL

The world of venture capital as a hub of capitals, innovative ideas and business figures will be the object of study during Equity and Venture Capital Financing, one of the six courses proposed by Bocconi Summer School 2016, the intensive course of study that targets 180 undergraduate students worldwide, to be held from 4 to 22 July in Milan. “If venture capital was once a topic limited more to the United States and the United Kingdom, today it is relevant throughout Europe,” explains Stefano Caselli, Vice Rector of International Affairs at Bocconi University and coordinator for the course. “Increasing quantities of resources are destined for start-ups in Europe. Aspiring entrepreneurs are always more qualified, digital, international, and capable of launching new businesses. Moreover, many European economies are mature or in recession and see the creation of new businesses as a concrete and feasible option.”

The course will enable students to enter the universe of venture capital and understand the operational mechanisms through classroom lessons, seminars with high-profile guest speakers, and company visits with venture capital funds and incubators like Unicredit Group, the Italian Stock Exchange, Mandarin Capital, and Speed Mi Up. “It will be a practical and interactive course, not only purely theoretical”, continues Caselli, “The students will be able to personally manage venture capital applications, the software used to evaluate a business plan. The objective is indeed to understand how to structure a business plan that is credible, appealing, and sellable to an investor. They will not learn how to develop a business plan, but rather how to orient it toward the investor. This is what makes this course unique.” For this reason, the course will not be useful only to those who intend to work in the venture capital sector, but also to those who, in the immediate or distant future, may want to launch their own start-up.

This course will be a full-immersion of 36 hours of lessons and 12 hours of company visits and seminars, for each course offered. The other five courses of the programme are: Economics of the European Union, Fashion and Design Management, International Business, Luxury Management and Sports Management.

Registration will be open until the 20th of April 2016.
