Bocconi in the Finals of the Hyatt Hospitality Management Challenge

NICOLE RIER, STUDENT OF THE MASTER IN TOURISM ECONOMICS, WILL FLY TO PARIS FOR THE FINAL OF THE HYATT STUDENT PRIZE, COMPETITION ON TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT. AND SHE WILL COMPETE WITH 7 OTHER STUDENTS FROM UNIVERSITIES AROUND THE WORLD

Nicole Rier, a student of the Bocconi Master in Tourism Economics (MET), is one of the eight students participating in the final of the 11th edition of the Hyatt Student Prize, a competition promoted by Hyatt, a multinational hospitality company that manages and franchises luxury hotels and resorts. The finalists, selected after a first phase that saw the participation of 25 schools around the world, will compete in Paris on 9 and 10 December in three challenges aimed at highlighting their academic preparation, their leadership attitude and soft skills on the theme of tourism management and hospitality. Nicole, whose ambition is to work as a consultant in the real estate & hospitality sector, is thrilled and ready to face the challenge: "It will be an excellent opportunity to test myself, meet other students with the same ambitions and be observed and evaluated by a jury of professionals and managers from different international companies," she says.

The passion for the world of hospitality comes from her family who have always worked in the sector, "I like it because it's a very human business sector that continually stimulates you to compare different cultures," explains Nicole, who is used to dealing with different cultures, people and situations. She was born in Bolzano to a Croatian mother, so in addition to Italian she speaks German and Croatian. "I also learned English, French and German because I attended the fourth year of high school in England and the last in Paris, where I took my high school diploma. Afterwards I attended a Bachelor in International Business in Munich, Germany. After graduating I found an internship in Berlin at Universal in the field of strategic marketing and then I decided to enroll in the MET”.

"We encourage participation in international competitions because they are a way for big companies to attract talented candidates, and for our students it’s an opportunity to challenge themselves and show theirs skills outside the classroom. They are also an excellent opportunity to build a professional and personal network," says Cristina Mottironi, program director of MET. "We are sure that Nicole will represent MET in the best possible way in a context full of the most important universities in the field of tourism and hospitality management".
