The Bocconi Summer School Doubles

FROM BIG DATA TO FASHION, FROM FINANCE TO DIGITAL MARKETING THROUGH TO HUMAN RIGHTS. THE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL IN MILAN FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS KICKS OFF THIS YEAR IN ADDITION TO THE SIX COURSES DEDICATED TO INTERNATIONAL BACHELOR STUDENTS

Not one, but two Bocconi Summer Schools, to allow undergraduate students as well as high school students from all over the world to experience Milan and the Bocconi campus and to study topics of personal interest. All this dipped in a multicultural environment: the 2016 edition was attended by 159 students from 39 different nationalities. "Bocconi has decided to create a specific program for high school students in order to let them live a unique experience and to discover all the areas and subjects characterizing this University", says Stefano Caselli, Vice Rector for International Affairs at Bocconi University, "This will give them a taste of the business atmosphere which surrounds Bocconi and the city of Milan". Applications for these intensive programs (held in English) will close on April 28 for bachelor students and on May 26 for high school students.

The Summer School dedicated to young people aged 16-18 is characterized by two weeks of study (3-14 July) and by the possibility to choose two subjects out of the ten options available: Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing, International Politics, Finance, Business Strategy, Economics, Big Data, Luxury and Fashion, Game Theory and Human Rights. Each course will consist of 4 morning sessions (lectures and exercises), 3 afternoon team-working sessions on a specific project and one afternoon session will be dedicated to a company visit: “The aim is also to introduce our cutting-edge teaching methods also by relying on highly interactive and multimedia tools”, says Caselli. At the end of each course, teams will present their projects to a manager or an entrepreneur.

The Summer School addressed to students enrolled in a Bachelor Degree of an international university, consists in three weeks of study (3-21 July) and in the choice of one course out of the six options available: Sports Management, Economics of European Union, Equity and Venture Capital Financing, Fashion and Design Management, International Business and Luxury Management. What characterizes these courses is the mix of traditional teaching, such as lectures with the presence of important guest speakers, with multimedia teaching and business visits to banks, companies and institutions.

"One of the biggest attractions to me was the opportunity to visit some of the leading companies in the fashion industry: we visited Gucci in Florence and Valentino in Milan", says Li Xiuqi, who studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and who attended the course in Fashion and Design Management last year. "And who wouldn't want to spend three weeks in Milan? I was looking for a summer university course held in English in a big city to deepen my knowledge on European matters and I found the Bocconi Summer School, where, besides skilled professors, I also met young people from all around the world", says Andrea Jancovà, who studies Economics at Prague University and who participated in the 2016 edition.
